Founded in 1944, Kia is South Korea’s second largest automobile manufacturer. As Hyundai owns a minority stake in Kia, both companies share platform and technologies (and problems). In 2006, Kia hired Peter Schreyer, who formerly worked at Audi, as Chief Design Officer. Schreyer led a design renaissance at Kia, leading to critical acclaim and, more importantly, increased sales. Kia is known for its affordable and price competitive lineup, but also offers enthusiast models such as the Stinger.
