Kia America has issued two separate recall notices within the same week. The recalls affect over 300,000 vehicles. The recalls were issued due to loose parts near doors and windows that can fall off and pose a hazard to other drivers on the road.

The recall specifically includes the following vehicles:

  • 2023 to 2025 model year Telluride (over 201,000 vehicles)
  • 2023 to 2025 model year K5 (over 100,000 vehicles)

According to the recalls, the affected Kia Telluride models have defective door belt moldings, while the K5 models have issues with window trim detachment. The recalls were both issued on July 28, 2025.

According to the notices reported on by the NHTSA, affected owners can take their vehicles into Kia dealerships for free inspections and replacement of the affected loose parts. Kia will also be issuing reimbursements for owners who incurred any repair costs prior to the recall notice.

Summary of the Lemon Law

The lemon law refers to the Song-Beverly Act, which is a law that protects consumers who purchased defective vehicles. Under the lemon law, affected consumers could pursue a claim against the auto manufacturer and get remedies. If your vehicle meets the definition of a lemon under the law, then your claim could potentially result in a vehicle buyback or a replacement vehicle, for instance.

The Definition of a Lemon

Under the lemon law, for a vehicle to be considered a lemon, it must meet the following conditions:

  • The vehicle must have a defect that affects safety, use, or value
  • The vehicle must have a defect that cannot be repaired even after a reasonable number of repair attempts have been made
  • The vehicle must still be under an active manufacturing warranty

Without a doubt, it can be difficult to determine whether your vehicle qualifies as a lemon or not. For information about whether your vehicle qualifies under the lemon law, contact us today. Our team is ready to guide you every step of the way.

More about the Remedies Available for Lemon Law Claims

If your lemon law claim is successful, you could be entitled to receive certain remedies. For instance, you could be eligible to get a vehicle buyback; this is essentially a refund for the full purchase price of the vehicle, as the manufacturer is buying the vehicle back from you. On the other hand, you could be entitled to receive a replacement vehicle of equal or similar value. In addition, you could be entitled to be reimbursed for any out-of-pocket costs that you may have incurred for repairs, towing, etc. The auto manufacturer will also need to cover all legal costs incurred.
